Comedian Matt Rife has officially entered the world of the paranormal. Known for his sharp wit and rising comedy career, Rife recently made headlines for purchasing one of the most haunted properties in America — the Rhode Island farmhouse that inspired the 2013 horror film The Conjuring.

The house, built in 1736, became infamous due to claims of demonic activity experienced by the Perron family in the 1970s. These claims later became the basis for the blockbuster horror franchise. The property has been owned by various paranormal investigators and enthusiasts over the years and is considered one of the most supernaturally active locations in the country.

But Rife didn’t stop at buying the house — he also acquired ownership and guardianship of the original Annabelle doll, the allegedly cursed Raggedy Ann doll that inspired The Conjuring’s terrifying spin-off series. Alongside Annabelle, Rife now holds over 700 paranormal and cursed artifacts, many of which were previously curated by famous demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren.

While many fans are shocked by Rife’s purchase, he reportedly has a deep interest in the paranormal and plans to maintain the house as both a private residence and a controlled haunted artifact archive. He may even allow limited public tours in the future.

Matt Rife’s leap from comedy clubs to cursed collectibles is certainly unexpected — but it shows that even comedians aren’t afraid of ghosts.
